Training Company first to achieve environmental accreditation

January 19, 2010 – 3:35 pmNo Comment

Utilise TDS has achieved status as the first UK training company to gain the CEMARS accreditation.

Training and development company Utilise TDS has become the first training company to receive Certified Emissions Measurement and Reduction Scheme (CEMARS) certification under the carbon Reduction programme, which enables businesses to measure their greenhouse gas emissions, understand carbon liabilities and manage the reduction of these throughout the company.

Continuing with their green approach, Utilise decided not to send Christmas cards this year to clients and instead are sending out branded trolley coins made from recycled metal.

Utilise has been working towards the accreditation for a year and were pleased to be amongst the first companies in the UK to achieve it Steve Mather, Operations Director at Utilise said, We have worked really hard to measure and evaluate our carbon footprint and we are still going through the process of reducing emissions. All organisations need to reduce their carbon footprint and we wanted to lead by example. The recycled trolley coins are just another way to show our commitment to the environment.

The company has targeted various areas of the business in its quest to reduce carbon emissions. These include reducing vehicle fuel usage and the purchase of low C02 emission cars; reducing gas and electricity emissions, educating staff to switch off lights and appliances wherever practical and looking into the installation of controlled zone lighting.
